One of 13 photographs taken in July 1990, during construction of the Dornoch Firth bridge. The annotation on the back reads ~ View from servicing motor boat ‘NIEL I’. The nearest floating crane unit is the third (or last are) sic ... ‘THOR’ of Messrs Christiani & Nielson Coy., completing the head of a bridge pier. To the right is the first floating crane unit, the jack-up rig which, having finished drawing the weight-bearing piles, has returned to drive the series of protective piles round the four piers at the ‘navigable channel’
