One of 13 photographs taken in July 1990, during construction of the Dornoch Firth bridge. The annotation on the back reads ~ View of the road-deck looking north towards Sutherland (Ben Tarvie can be made out to the right of the cranes). The clutter of steel rods standing up in the foreground is the site, now filled in with cement, where the stress bars came together and were joined by a turn-buckle. These stress bars or rods were high tension (sic ~ tensile?) steel bars 1½ inches thick.
