One of a series of 30 photographs, taken on 30th May 1990, during the construction of the Dornoch Firth bridge. The annotation on the back reads ~ The jack-up, or first floating crane unit (pile-driver) with its positioning crane is driving the seaward pile of the 5th Firth bridge pier. The view looks east towards Dornoch and the hand-lens just picks out the top of the Cathedral spire above the little motor-boat’s cabin.
