Can I request that someone with knowledge of old Embo families visit the Highland archive in the Inverness library building where the Embo School register for this period is lodged to try and get the names of this teacher and these children. The boy sixth from the left in the middle row is the double of George Fraser(Geordie Ruadh)who lives in Embo now - must be a relative. There are several others in the photo who are very alike to Mackays, Rosses, Cummings, Grants and Frasers who are still living in Embo. A wonderful image of 1912 school days in Sutherland. Descendants would be so enthralled to have this record of their ancestors, if anyone can follow up Kenneth's suggestion and identify these children. Can anyone suggest the significance of the 2 and 171 on the chalk board? The contrast between those with button boots and little bare feet is so relevant of the period. Hope someone can research this further. Comment left on 25 May 2009 at 21:55 by Lindsay Robertson
