Rear part of a lathe used by watchmaker Andrew Alexander Paul, Golspie. Fixed to the work this rear part was connected to the treadle underneath the bench by means of a belt passing through two holes in the work surface and to the front part picture #1740 by means of a round cord belt, as shown in the image, running horizontally above the work surface.
