Museum opening 18 July 2020
Coronavirus restrictions were lifted on 15 July 2020 permitting museums to reopen with due regard to hand sanitising, mask wearing and social distancing. A risk assessment was produced prior to the reopening, with publication of a 'Seven Steps' guide to a safe visit, with screening of the reception desk and social distancing and route marking for visitors. The risk assessment determined a maximum of 10 visitors at any one time and to avoid any overcrowding, a red and green 'traffic light' was mounted at the museum entrance. All necessary arrangements were in place with a 'dry run' with museum volunteers held on 16 July, permitting the museum to reopen to visitors on Saturday 18th July 2020.
