Mounting Displays at Historylinks
Historylinks Museum was unable to open daily for the summer season on 1 April, however, activity did not cease. Mindful of the requirements for social isolation and distancing, working alone on a daily basis in the museum the Curator continued with display maintenance and improvement. As necessary she co-ordinated time slots when she would give way her solitary presence to allow others to gain access to the museum computer network for project, finance or cataloguing purposes. Ultimately at the end of April it was necessary to furlough the Curator and Museum Manager, taking advantage of the UK Government coronavirus scheme to fund 80% of employment costs in order to maintain their posts.
Lynne Mahoney the Curator used her time in the museum to good effect, as illustrated in this short film featuring the annual task of making new museum display boards and renewing those subject to fading.
