There were a limited number of shops open in Dornoch during lock-down, reduced to those designated as providing essential services. The food shops open were ‘Dornoch Stores’ in Castle Street, the Co-operative Store in the High Street and the ‘Spar Convenience Store’ in the Industrial Park. Mitchells Chemist and Post Office and the Butcher’s Shop were also open in the High Street, plus the newsagents ‘Dornoch News’ in Castle Street. All introduced social distancing requirements, demanding limited access to their premises, in and out routing where possible and 2m spacing both inside the premises and for queues outside. The image shows the queue outside the Co-operative Store. Obviously for the majority, access to mobile phones relieved the boredom of queuing!
