World War 2 No 4 Respirator

A World War 2 No. 4 respirator. The black rubber face mask has two circular glass eye pieces in metal mountings and metal central exhalation nozzle with a brown central portion bearing the lettering V 6261 W.W.B. Ltd. There are six retaining straps with metal adjusting buckles and a back of the head rubber strap retainer, backed with heavy canvas. The face mask is attached by a brown canvas protected flexible hose to a red painted respirator canister. The container bears the lettering '25/9/40' on the top and 'No 4A 1940 Barnsley Canister Co.' on its base. In the bottom third of the container, on one side, there are two slits.
