
World War 2 civilian style, adult respirator
A World War 2 civilian style, adult respirator with a black rubber face protection, held in place by three white canvas straps, with perspex eye aperture with brown stitched canvas surround and a black cylindrical respirator. The white retaining straps bear the legend ‘MEDIUM’; the face mask has white lettering 'VRC 5.39 M634' on the front and in black on the wearer's right 'PUPPE 21 2 39 LOT4858’ and the black respirator cylinder 'M3 38'. The base of the cylinder is green coloured metal, the complete surface with small punched holes revealing a white net material. The gas mask is contained in a brown cardboard box with the top of the lid bearing the letter 'M'. On the inside of the lid there are printed instructions about packing the respirator and fitting when required for use. The cardboard box has a thin, light brown canvas material cover, with brown canvas edging and strap. The securing button missing
