Set of three WW1 medals ('Pip, Squeak and Wilfred') the 1914-15 Star (Mons Star). British War Medal and Allied Victory medal inscribed with the name of the recipient 405 Pte W Ross. The Mons Star was awarded servicemen of the British Expeditionary Force on active service in France and Belgium during the period 4 Aug to 22 Nov 1914. All medals are without medal ribbons. The medals were issued c 1922 at which time there was a popular newspaper cartoon with characters Pip, Squeak and Wilfred and these names were commonly used to refer to the trio of medals.
