One of a series of 30 photographs, taken on 30th May 1990, during the construction of the Dornoch Firth bridge. The annotation on the back reads ~ Hon. Treasurer of Dornoch Heritage Society, Mr Wright, the Solictor, views the nose-piece of the first section of the bridge decking about to reach the 3rd pier. This member, once it reaches the pier, takes the weight of the half-section following as it is pushed out over the gap between two piers by the two 600 ton hydraulic rams in the ‘Factory’. This process continues until all sections have been pushed across the firth, and the first half-section built becomes the last section of the north side of the firth.
