One of a series of 30 photographs, taken on 30th May 1990, during the construction of the Dornoch Firth bridge. The annotation on the back reads ~ The landward end of the ‘Factory’ built on the tip of the south approach embankment. Here the half-sections of the bridge decking section were fabricated, joined together and extruded from the other end of the canvas-walled temporary shed, out onto the piers of the bridge, the process being called ‘Incremented Launching’.
