Boy second from left in the back row is my late eldest brother Donald James Mackay (Donnie James)who spent most of his adult life in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe where he married the late Anna Catherine Fraser also from Embo. Their younger son Gordon Mackay is still living in Zimbabwe with his family.

The girl sixth from the left in the middle row was also from Embo. I can't at the moment remember her first name but she was a Fraser. The girl fifth from the left in the front row was also from Embo and I think that her name may be Betty Cowie but I am not sure of the name.

My other elder brother Hamish Mackay (James William) is shown on the extreme right of photograph number 991 of this same album. I suspect that these two photographs were taken on the same day.

Think the girl fifth on the front row is Bella Mackay ( Winning) Comment left on 07 August 2018 at 13:54 by
Of course Anonymous is correct. This girl is indeed Bella Mackay who we knew in Embo as Bella aigh Chiney and who is featured in an interesting series of photos by the museum about Embo women who worked at various towns in both England and Scotland gutting and packing herring for export.
Bella had two sisters, Barrie and Christina, who were older than her.
