
Silver jubilee tablecloth 1935
Souvenir tablecloth made in Scotland for the Silver Jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary in 1935. In original box (2004_232_02) with washing instructions (2004_232_03). The square tablecloth, described as a teacloth on the box, is in mid blue rayon with an ornate silver design. Each corner has a roundel with profile images of the King and Queen, surrounded by the Royal Crests of Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales, all contained in a circular border of roses and other foliage. In the centre of the cloth is another circular design with panels representing different parts of the Empire with four Union Flags, on a matching border of foliage. The cloth is in near perfect condition except for slight fading to one section.
The donor, Lily Munro, used to work for Queen Mary.
