Small world. My grandfather George Cumming, also from Embo and son of Adam Cumming, emigrated to Boston along with six of his seven siblings just prior to WW I. They mostly settled in Dorchester and Roxbury, but spread out in later years to the Cape, Nahant, Arlington, and so on. My father always told me that there were really only four family names in Embo - Cumming, Ross, McKay and Fraser. Therefore, if I ever ran across someone whose family was from Sutherland with one of those names, I would probably be related. Comment left on 08 September 2011 at 20:22 by Charles Cumming
Following up on my family tree. My great grandfather was Kenneth Cumming married to Sarah Ross and came to Canada. My grandmother was Jessie Cumming. All from Embo. Just wanted to drop a note in case you are interested. Comment left on 17 January 2017 at 20:24 by Ed Wells Many thanks for your comment.
