Cameronians Officers Chako headdress, which belonged to Capt Rose. The chako has a black leather peak with the dome covered in black cloth. From the side centres of the dome, secured by black metal ornamental hooks and curving to the peak is a black plaited braid which is then extended to the rear in a plain double braid. There is a broad docarated band around the on the lower edge and thinner band on the upper edge. In the centre front there is a black metal Cameronian bugle and scroll badge above which there is a metal tab indicating the hole positioning for the fitting of the large black plume. The inside has a leather head-band with a maroon cloth lining with gold Royal crest and inscribed 'F W Flight Army Tailor High Street Winchester and Aldershot'. There is a patent leather chinstrap, showing signs of wear and deterioration. The length of the plume whent fitted is 180 mm. (The spelling Chako rather than the more common 'Shako' is used in Army Dress Regulations for the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) - see (picture #8171).
