An account, with accompanying set of photographs, of the renovation of the shop adjacent to the Library in the High Street, Dornoch. The shop had been trading as Weir & Co Wine Merchants, Grocers and Confectioners and latterly owned by William (Bill) Ashplant. He closed the business in 1982 and the premises lay empty until 1984 when Barry Turner and his parents Harold and Betty purchased the then run-down property for £11,000. The ground floor was renovated with a new concrete floor, the first floor given cosmetic work and the second floor, which had been sealed off with stairs removed, was completely renovated with the addition of dormer windows. The rebuild was completed in Dec 1984. (Archive CD of the set of renovation photographs)
