Monochrome photograph of Angus Mackay Murray, born in Dornoch 1893, the son of Peter (a Joiner) and Margaret (Mackay) Murray of 4 Sutherland Road, Dornoch. He enlisted into 5th Bn Seaforth Highlanders at Dingwall with regimental number: 23339. Whilst serving as a Corporal in the 51st Battalion, Machine Gun Corps (Infantry) he was killed in action 21.3.1918 at Arras, France aged 25. He has no known grave but his sacrifice in commemorated on the Arras Memorial and his name appears on the Dornoch War Memorial. His sister Lily was killed in WW2 and is also listed on the Dornoch War Memorial
