Book entitled "The Sutherland Democracy" by Daniel William Kemp, publisher Norman Macleod, 1890. Contains details of Sutherland politics during the 19th Century. Inscribed "Hector M. Mackay, Dornoch, March 1890". Green cloth covered hardback book with the title and author in black letters on front cover and spine. Cover and spine slightly faded in places otherwise in good condition. Inside front cover is split along spine but secure. Pages are slightly dirty along edges. A white label is stuck on inside the front cover with "From Mrs Mackeracher nee MacHardy". Daniel William Kemp wrote 2001.091 "Sutherland Papers Pococke's Tour 1760". Hector Mackay, a solictor, was the Town Clerk from at least 1897 to 1916.
