Post office retirement William Murrary 1913
Photocopy of newspaper cutting from the Northern Times of 18-12-1913 concerning presentation of a bible to William Murray on leaving the Post Office in Dornoch. A further newspaper cutting from the Northern Times of 10 Feb 1989 provides the further interest in that William (Willie) Murray took the bible with him when he served in WW1 and was killed in action aged 19 in 1915. His bible was returned to his mother who regularly read from it. Ultimately in 1988 the bible found its way to a family member who, by coincidence, read the lesson from it at Rosyth Church on 11th December 1988 the 75th Anniversary of its original presentation. A request the following week to the Northern Times article sought further information regarding the identification of the Mr James A B Mackay who attended the 1913 presentation (2002_285_003)
The three newspaper cuttings are glued on blue paper.
