I think this man lived in Seaton House (which was in Seaton Park) and was turfed out for being a Jacobite? Is this true, and can any one shed more light on him?

1679 - Sub- Principal of Kings College,Aberdeen
1689 - Principal of Kings College,Aberdeen
Discribed as a Jacobite in 1715
17/07/1662 - Awarded his M.A. in St. Andrews
31/12/1683 - Awarded his D.D.

George, born 14th February and baptized 25th February 1645.
Graduated with M.A. from St. Andrews University 17th July 1662 ;
Minister of Glamis 5th January 1667 ;
Regent of King's College 22nd August 1673 ;
Sub-Principal King's College 21st October 1679 ;
Doctor of divinity of St. Andrews University 31st December 1683 ;
Principal of King's 27th October 1684, succeeding his father in that office also Minister at Glamis.
Demitted his parochial charge and preached his farewell sermon on the 11th July 1685.
He held it till 1716, when he was turned out for being a Jacobite.
He died 26th March 1726.
All of the above were sourced by me through months of research. Just goes to show how hard it can be to get dates that match. The top selection is the dates agreed by most of the historians at and around his life.
Janet, baptized 28 March 1652, daughter of James Gordon of
Seaton and George's wife. She was buried 17 January 1753, at the age of one hundred years and ten months.
The above is from a family tree that I am putting together, as I have been told that our strain of Middleton's are related to George Middleton's side of the Middleton's. He is related to a lot of famous and infamous Middleton's and is related to believe it or not, The Queen, through Earl John Middleton ( George's uncle) who's Daughter married into the Lyon's.
Would it be possible to get a copy of the picture of George for his family tree.

Thank you for such meticulous detail. I believe James Gordon married again, to Mariori Forbes who was the daughter of Robert Forbes, Provost of Rubislaw. Do you have any info regarding the parents of Jake Gordon of Seatons? I read a ratification to James Gordon and it looks as if his father was another James Gordon, a writer in Edinburgh. Please do contact me if you have more info.

There is a book called "Lost Aberdeen"(actually there are a few) but one of them is about Aberdeens lost Architecture and it says George was taken in by his son also called George, who was a Hanoverian, after the 1715 collapse. Such a confusing uprising with father against son. So I guess not all Hanoverians were bad. They both stayed at Seaton House and were followers of James Gibbs architecture who designed Seaton House for them.

I only heard about James Gordon through a book by Diane Morgan. He was given land by Robert Keith of Seaton to build a house and ferry accross the river. But that's all I know of him really, sorry. I was more interested in the house that was built in Seaton Park because I was hoping to put up a plaque to inform the public about vandalism and why the house is no longer there. It's a real shame.

I am delighted to find this photo! Would any of you happen to know who his siblings are? I'm trying to see if I can connect Charles Gordon (b. 31 Jan 1664, d. 8 Apr 1740) to him but I'm coming up short with real evidence. I'm seeing conflicting info on Ancestry and throughout the internet. Thanks!

Thank you for your hard and excellent work, I believe he was under house arrest, with surity from his son, who I believe was a military man, a General and an MP in later life his father I think was Alexander Middleton also a principle of Kings, would dearly love to know where they are all buried, I tried to find lady Diana Middleton wife of General George at St Machars but will try St Andrews soon, the Middleton arms are on the ceiling of St Andrews, Fortis in Arduis

I really appreciate all the informative info on this page! He is my 9th great-grandfather on my maternal grandmother's maternal side. My grandmother has told us before that we we're distantly related to the Queen and it's interesting to find it may be true.
