A wool winder (together with spinning wheel 2023_026_01) which had previously belonged to Dr A D Macleod, Dornoch)
His daughter (Mary Grant nee Macleod) remembers them being in their house, Burnside - the GP's house, in Dornoch.
His grand-daughter recalls that 'Grampa used to knit socks on 4 pins and did much of the darning. He was friendly with a Mrs MacDonald from Rogart, who was a great knitter and had a spinning shop (where the spinning wheel may have originated) along with Mrs Henderson at Fourpenny, another knitter, and many other local ladies who were knitters and spinners.
One of the T shaped ends is loose
