Dornoch Burgh Ceremonial Regalia – 6th engraved shield of Chain of Office
Working anti-clockwise from the central enamelled crest, the sixth engraved shield bears the inscription ‘John 20th Earl of Sutherland Provost 1703 - 1729.’ beneath which there is a second inscription ‘William 21st Earl of Sutherland Provost 1729 - 1753’.
