Dornoch Burgh Ceremonial Regalia - Central enamelled round shield of the arms of the donor, Cromartie, 4th. Duke of Sutherland (quarterly 1 and 4 Gower, 2 Leveson, 3 the Earldom of Sutherland) surmounted by a ducal coronet and surrounded by a belt and buckle with the ducal motto Frangas non Flectes (We may bend but we do not break.) It occupies the central position at the front of the Provost’s Chain of Office. The small loop at the bottom allows for attachment of the pendant shown at 2022_027_001.
