A newspaper article from the Northern Times published 15 May 2020 in which Alison Munro, author of "The Royal Burgh of Dornoch: a brief history", highlights that Dornoch, currently in lockdown as a result of the Corona virus pandemic, faced a similar situation in 1832 when faced with a deadly outbreak of cholera which killed nearly 6000 people in Scotland.
