First of 3 colour images of piper Derek MacKasgill at Dornoch War Memorial on VE Day. The 8th May 2020 marked the 75th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, the end of hostilities in Europe in WW2. Coronavirus restrictions prohibited parades and any large gathering, thus planned marking of this historic day had to be cancelled. However, during the afternoon of the 8th, a solitary piper commemorated the day playing at the Dornoch War Memorial. A video recording can be seen at picture #14437 (Catalogue No. 2010_010_38)
