In the Highlands, supermarket deliveries to isolated communities on the West Coast had become an important, well used and much appreciated service, whereas on the East Coast there was less demand for routine supermarket deliveries. From an early date in the social isolation lock-down, with requirements to ‘stay at home’ and ‘avoid unnecessary journeys’, supermarket deliveries became highly sought after. ASDA and Tesco, the local supermarkets in Tain with established delivery services, made every effort to increase their delivery capacity, but on-line booking of delivery slots, particularly a highly-prized recurring delivery slot, became increasingly difficult.
