
Dornoch Firefighters
First in a series of documents and photographs acquired from Dornoch Community Fire Station. This extract from the Northern Times 'Past Times' with a monochrome photograph provides details unknown at the time of the acquisition of a mounted copy of the photograph (picture #7). The Dornoch Volunteer Fire Unit in 1962 is shown with the District Shield which they won at the annual Highland and Islands Fire Brigade competition. The team of seven, standing in front of their appliance and trailer outside the old Fire Station in Cathedral Close, are front kneeling left to right: Ian Sutherland and Johnny MacDonald and rear row left to right: Jock MacLennan, Sandy MacLennan, Donnie Sutherland (brother of Ian), Jim Duff and Sinclair Gunn (brother-in-law of Ian).
