Could I suggest that the legend of the set of 8 photos be altered to read "The last Kirking of Dornoch Town Council..." The Kirking of the Council was an important event in many Scottish Royal burghs, when the members and officials of a newly elected council came to church to have their coming efforts on behalf of the local community receive the Kirk's blessing. It emphasised the importance of the relationship between Kirk and Council. I would question the date 1974. The tall "young" man at the centre of the picture is, I believe Willie Mackay, wearing his school blazer. Like me, he left school in 1969. If it is 1974, he may by then have returned to teach PE in Golspie. The man turning with his back to the camera (bible in hand) is, I'm sure, Jimmy Bell. The minister is the Rev Frederick Fulton.
