Also seated on the front row is my distant cousin the Provost John Murray. His grandmother Helen Matheson (nee Sutherland) and my 3x great grandfather Alexander Sutherland were siblings. John Murray had Balloan house built for his parents. Mary Kennedy Matheson (some of her teaching certificates are in the archive) and Walter Matheson were his cousins.

J. G. MacDonald should read J. G. Macdonald (lower case d). He was my grandfather and I understand very particular about the spelling of his surname.
