Copy of the Northern Times version of the third letter from Pte Alexander Murrary to his brother-in-law David dated Oct 1900, with address given as Smaldual South Africa. Alick records he is one of "a few longing to hear from the old country" because "I did not hear from you since I wrote you last". He was at "the eighth day we are on the march... I think we are going to march to Bloemfontein so that is a weeks marching for us yet". One disaster en route was "one of the highland light infantry struck dead with lightning " at Walsh River.
