"The Marne - And After"

A faded red linen covered book "The Marne - And After . A companion volume to "The Retreat from Mons" " by Major A. Corbett-Smith, R.F.A. (Royal Fortress Artillery). The title page has a facing photograph of Lieut-General Sir William R. Robertson. The book, 318 pp, has a dedication "To The Immortal Memory of the Men of the Old Army who Saved England, August - November 1914" and has a Prologue "The Men of Mons". It also contains 3 other plates and 2 folding maps and 3 maps in text. The book formed part of the Hetty Rose collection and there is some pencil underlining of locations and army organisations pertinent to the active service of her husband Capt. Ronald Rose, who was killed in action 22nd October 1914.
