A faded blue linen card cover, with embossed King George V insignia on the front and with gold lettering on the spine. The author is Lawrence Weaver, with a preface by the Earl of Rosebery K.G., K.T. Published at the offices of "Country Life" and by George Newnes Ltd, London. The book, 272 pp, formed part of the collection of Hetty Rose and inside the front cover is a bookplate stating "Presented by Colonel R. Moody April '57". The title page has red lettering with a coloured plate depicting "Private, The Royal Scots, 1742". Throughout the book there are monochrome portraits, illustrations and maps, with fold-out maps of The Low Countries and The Peninsula.
