A British Army steel helmet, Mk 3 1943 pattern, with net cover and webbing chin strap. Production of this pattern of steel helmet started in Nov 1943 and it was designed to give better protection than the previously issued World War 2 Birtish Army helmet. It was found more comfortable to wear. It was in general issue until the early 1970s. The netting provides a ready means to attach foliage or other forms of camouflage.
