Digital copy of a book of 254 pages, originally in blue cover pages, published by the Free Church of Scotland with the title 'Records of Grace in Sutherland' compiled by Rev Donald Munro DD of Ferintosh and Rogart and Edited by Rev Kenneth A Macrae MA, Free Church of Stornoway and others. The book was compiled from notes on the religious past of his native county by the Rev Dr Munro. The digital document was provided to the museum on CD as a series of photographs of individual pages. These have been reproduced as a portable document file which can be viewed using the pdf link below.

Is it possible to look at the contents of this book "Records of Grace in Sutherland" online? I believe it contains reference to my ancestors William the Catechist Murray and/or his wife Girzel Grant (who I gather didn't approve of his calling)

Unfortunately this only provides the headings of chapters and, as the document acquired by the museum was already in pdf format and had been scanned without OCR, it is impossible to search for key words you have mentioned i.e. Catechist or Girzel. If you can indicate which Chapter might contain references to your ancestors it may be possible to send you a chapter extract or ask one of our volunteers to undertake local reading. Administrator
