Extract from the Northern Times of 27 March 1981 which refers to the candlestick holder (2011.035.01) coming first in an exhibition organised by the Dornoch Area Community Council held in the West Church Hall, Dornoch to display photographs and old curios. The speaker at the exhibition Mr Ross Noble curator of Highland Folk Museum Kingussie commented that this was "the kind of item that enhanced any collection". This event was the start of the process leading to the formation of the Dornoch Heritage Society and eventually Historylinks Museum and the closing remarks of Mr Noble provided some guidance to a collection policy and the costs of running a heritage centre.
