Migdale Hospital
Dornoch Heritage Society talk ‘Migdale Hospital' by Rhona Macleod on 11th December 2003 originally recorded on a mini-disc.
As part of the project to enhance museum virtual presence, in 2025 the mini-disc was converted to MP3 format and, after appropriate editing, the MP3 file was transcribed to become a pdf file. This enabled direct on-line access to the content of the talk using the pdf link below.
The talk focuses on how the original poorhouse came into being and how it developed during the 1800s and the way that poor relief was managed in Sutherland. There is very little about the new Migdale Hospital which provides excellent local services, not least palliative care.
