Black and white photo of the front of the freedom of the burgh of Dornoch awarded to Captain John Mackenzie in 1770/1. Transcript below. Sent with letter dated Oct 29th 1930.

"At Dornoch the eleventh day of February one thousand seven hundred & seventy years. In presence of The Honble James Wemyss of Wemyss Provost, John Duncan Merchant, Capt James Sutherland of Oldany, Major George Sutherland Midgarty, Capt George Sutherland Rearquhar, Bailies, John Barclay Dean of Guild, & Dugald Gilchrist Treasurer & other permanent(?) Members of the said Councill & Comunities.

Compeared Captain John Mckenzie late Master of The Margaret & Betty of Aberdeen, who was created, admited & received free Burgess & Guild Brother of the said Councill & Comunity. With power to him from hence forward to hold & enjoy, all & Sundry Liberties, priviledges and Immunities thereunto belonging. And he being accordingly sworn conform to use & wont Did thereupon ask & take Instruments. Extracted by Hugh McCulloch Clerk."
