White cotton lawn christening robe. The bodice has a narrow lace edging and lace edged front panel (see detail 2004_235_02). The puff sleeves have matching edging. The skirt is gathered on to the bodice and has full length vertical lace bands flaring out from the centre, with two panels of vertical tucks starting about a quarter of the way down. The hem of the central panel is finished with a deep lace border. There is a band of five tucks above a deep lace border round the rest of the hem. The robe is fastened by two pairs of ties at the back.
