Detail of the bodice of white cotton lawn christening robe (see 2004_234_01). The bodice has a narrow lace edging and lace edged front panel with tucks in the centre. The puff sleeves have matching edging. The skirt is gathered on to the bodice and has full length vertical lace bands, with a central panel of alternating horizontal bands of lace and tucks starting about a quarter of the way down. The hem of the central panel is finished with three rows of lace edging (see 2004_234_03). There is a band of five tucks round the rest of the hem. The robe is fastened by two pairs of ties at the back.
