Seaforth Highlanders WW1 tunic

Coarse woollen khaki tunic with buttoning down the front with four gold coloured buttons with the royal crest. The bottom (5th) button has been replaced by a smaller gold coloured naval button. The epaulettes are marked V Sutherland. The maker's label is sewn inside the collar (J & B Pearse & Co, 812 Old Ford Road, London E). Parts of a paper label survive inside the right front, giving the soldier's name and measurements (Bethune Wm, height 5/6, sleeves 22. 30 1/2, chest 40, waist 38, seat 41, collar 17). This is a WW1 service dress tunic of the 5th Battalion Seaforth Highlanders. One hole in right sleeve, possibly moth.
