Set of small scales consisting of two shallow circular brass dishes each suspended by three pieces of fine string from a steel arm with hooked ends which pivots within a steel hanging loop. A turned pointer projects upwards from the centre of the arm and aligns with the straight edge of the hanging loop to show when the scales are exactly in balance. Each brass dish has three equidistant holes drilled through it close to the edge. The string runs through these and is knotted on the underside.
