Northern Times extract Oct 15 2009 reprinting a report of a speeding conviction as a result of the timing of motor vehicles at the Mound on 8 Oct 1909. The pdf file provides a full account of court proceedings but in essence, John Alexander Boyd, motor car driver of Uppat near Golspie was fined £2.2s for driving at 25 mph at the Mound, 5 mph above the speed limit. Two police officers' pocket watches were used in the timing of the car's speed over the distance of 1 mile.
