Police diary for 1874-1878; handwritten notes detailing police duties for each day on ruled paper in dark grey hard covers. Grey speckled hardboard covers with black corners. Spine has disintegrated and been repaired with a section of faded green cloth held with ageing and renewed cellotape. There are signs of previous repairs. Inside are two loose sheets of paper with handwritten notes byJimmy Bell. The pages are stained and loose. First entry June 8th 1874, last entry 18 January 1878. On a quick glance have found two names - on August 7th 1874 John McLeod P.C and 1st Jan 1875 James Esson P.C. (The pdf version is a typewritten transcript and this was used, with a selection of relevant photographs from the museum collection for the publication of a book 'The Policeman's Lot' which is available from the museum shop and website www.historylinks.org.uk) [See 2021_038 picture #14711 Sutherland Constabulary Police Occurrence Book from the Dornoch police station with handwritten entries from 12th April 1908 to 22 January 1912.]
