The war diary of Capt Ronald Hugh Walrond Rose, Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) written in pencil in a Army Book 153 - Field Message Book and covering the period 29 July - 16 Oct 1914. The Field Message Book has a green and black leather hard cover. The first page has a library ownership label bearing a family crest and the name 'Hetty Rose' wife of Capt Rose and thereafter there are pages covering the use of the Field Message Book. There are 74 handwritten pages each numbered in pencil (additional to a Field Message Book page number). At the end of the Message Book there are three sketches of front line positions and a table of unknown significance. The sketches appear at 2008.141.02 to 04 and a typed copy of the war diary is at 2008.141.05.
