The officer on the left must be Lieutenant William Henry Langdon Burgess, who joined the 1st Battalion from the 3rd Special Reserve Battalion. He isn’t mentioned in the War Diary until his death on 20th July 1916 when his rank was that of Captain. We do not have any other photographs of Burgess but I'm pretty sure this must be the man.

hi, I think there is a photo of Henry in the Glasgow Uni website. Henry worked for Barr & Stroud in Anniesland Glasgow who were defence equipment suppliers. I know this because I currently work for Thales in Glasgow which is the new Barr & Stroud. Henry's name is on a commemorative plaque. Henry was killed 20/07/1916 and is buried in the Caterpillar Valley cemetery in the Somme

Hi this photo can be seen in the Major Robert Cotton Money Collection in the Imperial War Museum website. It also mentions that they are in Sloper Court and not Sconer.....regards James. Glasgow Uni website has also added more info about him since my last post above.
