Robert Mackay, Writer of Thurso 1765-1846, was my great great grandfather. One of his sons, my great grandfather Robert Dowie Mackay 1807-1899 emigrated to Ontario in 1849. He was a Presbyterian Minister, and he preached a sermon the Sunday before he died at the age of 92, with all of his teeth still in his head! My grandmother was Hannah Isabel Mackay 1868-1962, a grand and gracious lady who lived a long life and was dearly loved by all of her many grandchildren. She loved to play checkers and do jigsaw puzzles with us, as well as share her buttermint candies! There are still direct Mackay descendants of this line living today.
