You will be unlikely to glean any information from Dornoch, Rogart and surrounds parish records pre 1730 and scant information over the ensuing 100 years. Look to the press, books, gravestones and the chieftain of the Murrays of Abiscors (Aberscross) where much historical information is on record eg in relation to the Sutherlands and McKays, and to the progenitor of these Murrays Sir Richard Culbin d.1260-1270, Embo (see also SRO Sutherland Papers, rent rolls, Wikipedia, and other computerised Scottish records of local battles, conflicts et al).

The 19th century is not that far back in terms of Scottish genealogy. There was a Duncan Murray from Dornoch operating as a mariner (privateer?) in Somerset County, Maryland before the Revolution.
This is from someone in the Murray DNA Project: '[Her male cousin's] Big Y results place him in the Atholl/Tullibardine line, and he is linked closely to two participants in the study who came from Kildonan, Dornoch, Sutherland, Scotland. One emigrated during the Highland Clearances to Pictou, Nova Scotia. The other test participant left Dornoch for New York at the beginning of the 20th century. Quoting Alexandrina, involved in the study, "our line descends from the same ancestor as the Dukes of Atholl & Dunmore. Y-DNA can tell you that absolutely".' Comment left on 20 October 2011 at 00:41 by Hugh E. Murray III The notes included with the above letter do not relate specifically to the Murray family. The notes are of the names of people 'removed' from their tenancy in 1800, a total of 682, compiled by John Murray from Quebec at West Register House, Edinburgh in 1998. There was no mention of a Neil Murray and sadly we do not hold any specific genealogies of the Murray families in Dornoch Administrator
