Would appreciate information on Torboll Farm and its water supply. I imagine perhaps the water supply in the field trip photos shared the same source as the water supply for the Torboll Mill (dam, sluice, lade) of the 1800's. The survey map indicates two well springs. My gg grandfather, John McGregor, was miller at Torboll in the early 1800's. (Was it a saw mill or a grist mill?) Would also love to know the age of the present Torboll farmhouse. Any information much appreciated.
Comment left on 11 September 2012 at 19:24 by Isabel Vaughan We do not hold much more information in the Museum than these photographs. The water supply is described as coming from above Torboll Falls. I believe the mill was a grist one and there has been a farmstead there since at least the middle of the 19th century. Perhaps someone else could provide you with more information? Administrator
